Today kicks off the start of Barak Obama’s long awaited Summit with world leaders to discuss the future of Nuclear security around the globe. The leaders of 46 countries will be in attendance to talk about how they will proceed with securing nuclear weapons materials around the world. The goal is to design a treaty that will keep these terrible weapons and their components out of the reach of terrorists.
The summit comes just after the United States of America and Russia signed a nuclear arms reduction treaty last week. The intention was to demonstrate the commitment of the two nations towards reducing the numbers of nuclear weapons to the rest of the world. Together, the two countries wish to lead the world away from developing new generations of nukes and preventing existing material from ending up in the hands of those who wish to do harm to the established world nations.
In the article Obama hosts two-day summit on nuclear security – CNN.com, they infer that this new wave of nuclear agreements will put even more pressure on nations like Iran and North Korea to abandon their pursuit of nuclear technology. The article quotes secretary Henry Gates on this issue saying, “We’re doing everything we can to try and keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons… At the end of the day, Iran has to decide that not having nuclear weapons is a better defense strategy than having them”
I raise an interesting parallel to the issue of our failed gun control laws. If none of the good guys/gals are allowed to have them for protection, then only the bad guys/gals who break the law will. If that happens, we will have to rely on a reduced stock of warheads that were made in the 60s and 70s to deter our enemies; lets just hope it never comes to that…

Barak Obama is at it again! Now I know alot of people are down on our commander and chief these days but I will say one thing, the man has delivered on his campaign promises… Now we have another great example of Obama style change in Washington to look forward too.
This time the administration is rolling out a new international policy for American Nuclear Weapons deployment. The new policy is intended to advance the idealistic goal of a world free of nuclear weapons. Under this policy, Non-Nuclear countries that comply with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty are protected from a Nuclear counterstrike by the U.S.A.

Here is my question though… If one of these countries that become protected under these new rules decide to attack us with chemical or biological weapons, don’t they no longer qualify for the Non-Proliferation treaty anyway?
Furthermore, what can we do to ensure that Russia will actually begin to reduce their Nuclear Warhead count safely, without any nuclear materials ending up in the hands of the highest bidder?
Obama wants no more Nukes!
My generation was lucky enough to grow up in a world free of the fear of mutually ensured destruction in the event of a nuclear attack. I think this is a good step for the future, but like anything in Washington, we need to make sure this policy is in the best interest of the American people and that it is reasonably enforced on the international community.

Obama headed back to U.S. after surprise visit to Afghanistan – CNN.com.
Excerpt from the article:

It is about time that President Barak Obama had this meeting! I, like many Americans, am completely disappointed with the progress, or lack there of, made by the administration of Afghan leader Hamid Karzai. President Obama needs to take a harder stand on the failure of Karzai to address corruption, drug trafficking, and domestic militant activity.
Despite a potentially fraudulent reelection, Obama’s administration has remained optimistic about Karzai’s ability to make improvements in Afghanistan. Thus far he has failed terribly to address any of these issues with the full power of his regime. He has been invited to attend a meeting at the White House to discuss the problem further.
My question is simple, why do we continue to support this regime that continues to act in a manner that works directly against the interest of The United States of America?
Tell me people, where do we draw the line?
