Catholic Priest Scandal: All Roads Lead to Rome

After reading this CNN.com article, Vatican covered up abuse in Minnesota, lawyers say, I thought that it was about time that I shared my opinion on this topic. Before I go on, I would just like to say that I have a profound respect for Catholicism, Christianity, and the Priesthood. That being said, enough is enough!

Take a look at this excerpt from the CNN.com article:

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Priest accused of abusing two teenage girls, misappropriating money
  • Bishop sent letters to Rome, but no disciplinary action was taken
  • Vatican requested that “priestly life” be monitored”

Thus far, no disciplinary action has been taken against  Father Joseph Pavanivel Jeyapau. In fact, the Church was presented with multiple accounts of inappropriate behavior on his behalf as early as 2005. Before Cardinal William Levada presided as the head of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith (a.k.a. the people who deal with allegations of sexual abuse by priests), the position was held by none other than Pope Benedict XVI.

I send a desperate plea to those in Rome who are tired of this insanity. Please start doing something to discourage this culture of sexual abuse of children and young adults. In the name of God, I pray for you to do something, anything, that will change the way The Catholic Church deals with these issues. If children are the future, then you are literally allowing your priests to continue f***ing up our future…

Last week I received significant attention from bloggers when I posted on the ongoing scandal within the Church of Scientology. The issues are strikingly similar in nature. Somehow, these religious institutions, which people look to for hope and faith in a cruel world, have allowed a culture of physical and mental abuse to be built directly into their system. The only way for this to come to an end is for the global community to say we have had enough, and demand that real changes are made to stop this from happening!

Who am I to say anything? I am not Catholic and I am not a Scientologist…

I represent the voices of those who have been spit on by their spiritual leaders! This post comes from the spirit within me that says, “do not stand by and let this happen”. We must do something to help our brothers and sisters who have been betrayed, abused, and threatened. Please help us make a real difference;  share this post with anyone that you think might join our cry for justice and responsibility.

Stop the abuse, PLEASE
